Anne Beversluis was born in Paterson, New Jersey. She is celebrating her 100th Birthday this year! Her mother and father immigrated from Hungary. She attended school through the 8th grade and even though she wanted to attend High School, her father told her she had to go to work. So she worked with her Dad at the Paterson Silk Mills as a ‘winder’ which meant she wound silk thread to be made into men’s hat bands.
On February 3, 1934 she married John Beversluis. They had 3 children, John, Claire and Linda. After 60 years of marriage, John passed away in 1994 at the age of 87. She was able to grant his wish to remain at home until he died, and she lovingly cared for him for over a year.
In 1996, at the invitation of her son in law, Lyle, who is married to her daughter Claire, she left New Jersey and came to Oceanside, California, to live with them, where she has ‘thrived’ for the last 12 years!
In addition to being a wonderful mother to 3, she is a loving Grandma to 6 and also blessed to be a great-grandma to 8!
Anne is still very active and attends Carlsbad Community Church every Sunday. She is a blessing and an inspiration to all who meet her. She is radiant and outgoing in appearance and personality and has a certain happiness that she always carries in her smile. She fills her days with listening to “Books on CD” since macular degeneration prevents her from doing the crossword puzzles that kept her mind so alert for all these years. She is very up to date in her appearance and loves going out with friends, especially to Rebecca’s Garden Tea Room in Lake Elsinore where she was recently ‘pampered’ by their caring staff.
Rebecca’s Garden Tea Room is located at 201 W. Graham Avenue, Lake Elsinore, CA, 92530. You may make reservations by calling (951) 471-1740.
